The plasma cutting process may be used to cut any conductive material, including carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, copper, brass, cast metals, and exotic alloys. Plasma technology is based on a simple physical principle. Matter changes its state when energy is supplied to it: solids becomes liquid, and liquids becomes gaseous. The Windows 10 IOT based open architecture platform, which runs the machine, allows us to customize each controller to your specific needs. Remnant and cut loss management are made easier via our laser measuring technology. True to their name as a provider of solutions to the industry, this software delivers on all fronts. You will find everything you need for creating, editing, and nesting your structural parts. The softwares capability is comprehensive and operator friendly. Diagnostic tools closely monitor the machines hardware and allows for remote tech support as needed. Maintain and create a customizable part library, monitor inventory and productivity levels. Create and save multiple locations across the water table for quick and easy torch positioning.
Machine operators simply need to turn on their machines, select their job, load plate and consumables, align the plate (InSights Laser features will do so automatically), then process the job. The operator does not need to set torch height, pierce delay, cut speeds, and kerf compensation, the software runs these calculations. It will also let the operator know which specific material type, thickness and size, plus consumables that need to be loaded onto your plasma cutter.
An easy to navigate windows based interface is easily operated by both novice and experienced machine operators. The system delivers Graphical Part Programming with a Built-In CAD Package. A recently added feature is the ability to import Vector Graphics files(.svg) and Structural DXF Importing. Easily scale and edit these parts once their imported using a built-in array of drawing tools. Import structural DXF files from Auto-Cad and should the operator need to make any final adjustments, it can be accomplished real time directly from the controller. The auto-dimensioning feature verifies changes to the parts are correct and the operator can export, save, and print a digital .pdf of the part. 2D and 3D part viewing abilities allow the operator to visually see the changes made on the screen before moving forward with the cutting process. Impressive, but there is more!
Embedded into the software is an industry leading CAD/CAM nesting feature designed for advanced mechanized cutting. The nesting feature helps fabricators and manufacturers increase material savings, boost productivity, lower operating costs, and improve part quality by offering the highest level of cutting expertise. The dated system of block nesting and manually nesting to increase plate usage are made obsolete by this new technology. The advanced nesting feature includes true-shape nesting, remnant management and inventory forecasting. In short, you can custom crop a remnant, save it in the system, come back to it the next day and nest a new job to it. If your not happy with a nest or feel you should be getting more usage out of it, there is a nesting optimizing feature which will re-nest the job in an attempt to get even more usage from your plate. Forecast the cost of a job by nesting it first before sending out a quote, this will assist in keeping your overhead low and will increase your bottom line numbers.
Another great nesting feature is the ease with which you are allowed to start, pause and resume a nested cutting project. Systems before made it difficult to pause and cut a part from the middle of the nest. With our software you will not need to sit and count every pierce to move the torch and cut the right path and part (some people punch in guess after guess until you find the right path, you won't have to do that anymore). Simply click on the part you would like cut and start the process, once the part is cut you can just as easily return to where you paused the original nest. The system will remember you have already cut the previous part and skip over that part of the plate. If you have an experienced operator, they will absolutely love this feature as much as we do.

Precision and accuracy is what you get when you step into this relatively new technology. The laser is actually used as a measuring tool, it is utilized by the automatic plate skewing, remnant tracing and plate mapping features of the software. The laser is also used to measure the plates height. The accuracy of the laser is powered by unique algorithms created to save time and to ensure the machine accurately processes each job in a timely and efficient manner.

These systems are a part of the technology you may not see working behind the scenes, you will however see the results and feel their impact in many ways. With these systems in place in our InSight controller, you will achieve greater productivity by reducing cut-to-cut cycle time. Rapid Part ® controls and optimizes every step in the plasma cutting process – without operator intervention – so you can focus on your business and your customers. True Hole ®, part of Hypertherm’s SureCut ® technology was launched in 2008 with the HPRXD ® autogas family of products. It is now also offered on Hypertherm’s new XPR300 ® system. Equally important, True Hole ® technology is delivered automatically without operator intervention, to produce unmatched hole quality.
True Hole Technology and its benefits.
Hypertherms patent-pending True Hole ® cutting technology for mild steel produces significantly better hole quality than what has been previously possible using plasma. This is delivered automatically without operator intervention.
True Hole ® for mild steel is exclusively available for use in conjunction with Hypertherm's XPR300 ® plasma systems. True Hole ® is automatically applied by nesting software or CNC software to thicknesses up to 25 mm (1inch). Hole coverage ranges from hole diameter to thickness ratios from 2:1 to as low as 1:1.
True Hole ® technology is a specific combination of the following parameters that is linked to a given amperage, material type, material thickness and hole size:
• Process gas type, gas flow and amperage
• Piercing methodology; lead in / lead out technique, varying speeds across multiple hole segments
• Arc termination synchronized with torch motion
• Bolt hole quality is delivered automatically without operator intervention
• Narrows the gap with laser hole quality making the plasma process suitable for many jobs previously cut with laser
• Virtually eliminates hole taper
• Improves top and bottom level roundness
• Delivers true “bolt-hole” quality
Rapid Part Technology and its benefits.
Also integrated into your new CNC Plasma cutter is Hypertherms Rapid Part ® Technology. This technology offers up to 100% increase in productivity, automatically, without operator intervention. Rapid Part ® technology uses motion optimization techniques programmed into the part program and automatically executed by our InSight Controller. By automatically reducing cut to cut cycle time between parts, the technology increases the number of parts produced per hour.
Rapid Part technology targets and optimizes five aspects of the total cutting process that causes longer cycle time and occurs during the period from the last cut or pierce to the next pierce. The process is as follows:
Is it time to Bevel up?
Bevel cutting is the process of cutting a part with an edge that is not perpendicular to the top of the piece. This is done to increase the surface area of the edge for a stronger, more secure weld. There are many different types of beveled edges. The edges are described throughout the industry by the English letter the cut most closely resembles when looking at a cross-section. Common bevel types include V, A, X, Top Y, Bottom Y, and K.
The process of cutting a bevel part is not the simplest of procedures and the set-up to job-completion time for such projects has always been unpredictable. Using older technology, it may take one or it may take ten different cuts to ensure the right cut. We now have the ability to speed the process and ensure a good clean cut with our InSight controller and our bevel head model CNC Plasma Cutter.
